Leonids on November 18, 2001
The Leonids show was simply awesome on the morning of November 18, 2001. I met up with Joe Pedit, fellow APMLer from North Carolina, and we drove to one of his dark sky sites on Kerr Lake on the Virginia/Carolina border. The sky was very nice on this night with the zodiacal light clearly visible. I don't know how many meteors was seen. Around 5:00 a.m. it seemed as though we were seeing one meteor at least every other second. Estimates have varied on the number of meteors per hour, regardless of the estimates, it was an awesome show.

The image above shows two Leonids streaking through the Orion
constellation.
