Total eclipse presented a great dynamic range on the lunar surface.  My intent is to capture this dynamic range accurately with this image.  The night's weather was actually ridiculous-ground fog would roll in and then roll out.  High clouds were passing in thick bunches.  This image could not have been accomplished with film.  The gaps in the clouds were not long enough for 30 second exposures.  I was lucky to get any exposures.  At one time, I thought I felt some rain drops.  Given the weather conditions, I am very happy with the results.  With 4 minutes left in totality, the skies cleared nicely and permitted the red, green, and blue images needed to form the image above.  The most impressive part of the night for me was to watch the Moon brighten after totality.  It is amazing the contrast range of the Moon going from eclipse to full phase.  Looking forward to the November eclipse.
