The
Summit of Spruce Knob, WV and Gatewood Campground

This is the view from near the summit of Spruce Knob mountain.
It is the highest point in West Virginia at 4,868 feet. The Gatewood
campground is more sheltered from the prevailing winds atop the summit.
The campground is on one of the ridges you see here below the summit.

This was the setup for November 10, 2001 in
Gatewood Campground. This is the view looking south to south-east.
One 15" dob was setup with a TV 102 and Fuji 10x70 for viewing. Two AP
refractors were setup for imaging. The winds this night were extremely
loud in the treetops, but were significantly blocked by the trees.
